Please note the following updates regarding the 10/2/22 fire:

-FIRE SAFETY: A reminder to all residents to please check that their smoke detectors are functioning properly and to keep all fire doors closed at all times. The Board has approved updating all smoke detectors (and carbon monoxide detectors) in every unit, as well as installation of new detectors in all common areas. The Board has also approved updating the building fire door locks. These upgrades will be done free of charge to residents and a timeline of the install will be shared once available. In the interim, it is strongly requested that all residents confirm if their smoke detectors are working properly and fire doors remain closed.
-LINGERING SMELL: Professional cleaning started last week in 5L. The cleaning of 5L will address a large portion of the smell in the building. After 5L is thoroughly cleared out (by the end of this week), repairs will begin in the unit. Repairs and painting in the common areas will then commence. The common area work should address the remaining smell in the building.

-BUILDING REPAIRS: Building and common area work will begin in the next few weeks. This work has been bid out to several contractors and it will begin shortly after bids come back. The estimated start date is within 2-3 weeks.
-FDNY REPORT: The FDNY has completed their investigation around the fire. The results have still not been made public. More information will be made available in the coming weeks when they share their findings. The report will be made public and available through the City of New York and will be shared by the Board.
-INSURANCE & AFFECTED UNITS: All Shareholders with affected units should continue dealing with Adventure Properties and their personal insurance companies.
We will continue to share information as it becomes available.
The Board of Directors, 59 Pineapple Street
