Last Day to Curb your Christmas Tree - January 14th, weather permitting

Happy New Year! We hope you had a lovely holiday time and enjoyed our hallway decorations.

If you also had a tree in your apartment, the Department of Sanitation’s Christmas Tree Collection runs from January 6 through January 14, 2023. Last day is today, this Saturday!

You can put your live Christmas tree and/or wreath curbside for chipping and composting at any time during the special collection period. Collected trees and wreaths will be chipped, mixed with leaves, and recycled into rich compost for NYC's parks, institutions, and community gardens.

Before placing your tree and/or wreath curbside, you must remove:

• Lights

• Ornaments

• Plastic bags

• Tinsel

• Tree stands

• Other tree-related accessories

Trees and wreaths that still have items attached cannot be composted and will be collected as regular trash.

If you are throwing out an artificial Christmas tree, you can put it curbside with your regular trash.

After the special collection period is over, all Christmas trees and wreaths will be collected with regular trash.
